The Manitowoc Lincoln gymnastics team hosted the WIAA Division 1 sectional on Saturday and finished seventh with a team score of 109.725.
The result was anything but a disappointment for Ships coach Jacque Bartow.
“For a lot of girls today this was the end of really their first season ever doing gymnastics,” Bartow said of her young squad. “Today was a real learning experience and a chance to continue to grow heading into next season.”
Danielle Carle led Lincoln, finishing 18th in the all around with a score of 31.15 and pacing the Ships in three of the four individual events. She was 18th on beam (8.1), 23rd on floor (7.95) and 11th on vault (8.3).
Also for Lincoln, Sloan Tackett paced the Ships on bars, finishing 21st (7.075).
No gymnasts for Lincoln qualified for State, which required a top five finish in the all around or top four in all other events in both Division 1 and Division 2.
