The wrestling teams Sheboygan Falls and Random Lake are one night — and two wins — from qualifying for the WIAA Team State Tournament.
Tonight, the Falcons compete in a Division 2 four-team sectional at Pewaukee. They face the host Pirates, and fellow Eastern Wisconsin Conference member Kewaskum takes on East Troy in the other.
In Division 3, Random Lake takes on Kenosha Christian Life, and Lomira faces Westfield in a pair of semifinals at Laconia. Semifinal winners match up with a trip to State on the line.
Falls, which took second in the EWC to Two Rivers, received votes in the Wisconsin Wrestling Online state rankings. Its opponent, Pewaukee, is ranked No. 6. Neither Kewaskum nor East Troy received votes.
The Falcons have three individual wrestlers ranked in their respective weight classes. Senior Alex Fitzgerald is No. 4 at 138 pounds, sophomore Jake Becker is honorable mention at 145 and senior Mitchell Lambrecht is No. 6 at 160.
Pewaukee, meanwhile, has five wrestlers ranked: Senior Rajiv Geffert (HM, 106), junior Isaac Lodise (No. 6, 126), senior Garrett Shibilski (HM, 145), freshman Jacob Raschka (No. 7, 152) and senior Jake Roseland (HM, 220).
Pewaukee went to State as a team three times, from 2008-10. Falls has been once, in 2007. East Troy has been twice, the last in 2006, while Kewaskum has never advanced.
East Troy had three wrestlers ranked and Kewaskum has two.
Meanwhile, Random Lake, champion of the Central Lakeshore Conference, is the big favorite to advance to State in D3 for a third-consecutive season and fifth time since 2008. The Rams have a whopping 10 wrestlers getting recognition in the state poll.
They include: freshman Josh Depies (HM, 106); freshman Levi Kohn (No. 9, 113); senior Brandon Depies (No. 2, 120); junior Jon Mudlaff (No. 8, 120); senior Zak Stepniewski (HM, 132); senior Trent Gottsacker (No. 7, 138); senior Jacob Behn (No. 9, 145); senior Adam Risse (No. 7, 170); senior Nick Klein (No. 8, 195) and senior Reed Anklam (No. 1, 285).

Lomira also have five mention in the polls, and Westfield has a pair.
Lomira has advanced to Team State once, in 2004, while Christian Life and Westfield are seeking first berths.
