The Two Rivers wrestling team saw its season come to and end after a 36-32 loss to Wittenberg-Birnamwood in a WIAA Division 2 team sectional semifinal on Tuesday night in Freedom.

The Raiders entered the dual as the fourth-ranked team in D2 according to Wisconsin Wrestling Online, the Chargers were No. 2.

Ty Pelot got things rolling for Two Rivers with a pin at 120 pounds.

The next two matches belonged to Wittenberg-Birnamwood. The Chargers knotted the dual at six apiece after the first three matches.

Chris Yauch put the Raiders back on track, winning by major decision at 138 pounds, while Chandler Donati (145) won by major decision in the following match, giving Two Rivers a 14-6 lead.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood rattled off a string of four consecutive wins to take a 24-14 lead.

Scott Skornicka (195) won by pin to bring the Raiders back within four, but the Chargers’ John White Wing answered with a fall of his own at 285 to seal the deal.

Though the team portion of the season is over for Two Rivers, the Raiders have seven wrestlers competing at individual sectional Saturday in Seymour, including Pelot, Skornicka, and Bianchi who were all state place-winners a year ago.
