Brianna Richard, an incoming sophomore at Academy of Global Studies at Winton Woods High School, has returned from the 2014 AAU Jr. Olympics National Championships with two silver medals. Richard placed second in both the triple jump and long jump.
Richard’s jump of 38’3.75″ in the triple jump came in a competition against 52 girls, ages 15 and 16, from across the country. Her long jump of 19’4.5″ put her second in a national field of 75 girls, ages 15-16. This year’s AAU Jr. Olympics National Championship took place in Des Moines, Iowa.
Additionally, Richard made it to the semi-finals of the 100-meter dash, finishing in a time of 12.23 seconds for 11th place.
Now that the track season is over, Richard will be playing volleyball for Winton Woods High School and participating in the marching band. She is also Student Council class president. “Brianna keeps busy at school, taking AP courses as well as juggling her extra-curricular activities,” said her mom Michele Richard. “We are so proud of how much she has accomplished so far as a young adult.”
