Rachel Elzie hit three big 3-point baskets during a crucial stretch in the fourth quarter as the Woodlawn Lady Knights rallied on the road to defeat the North DeSoto Lady Griffins 70-58 in District 1-4A action at North DeSoto High School Friday night.
“We weren’t playing our best ball in the first three quarters,” said Woodlawn head coach Patrick Lindsay, “so we had a little bit of a ‘come-to-Jesus’ meeting during a timeout. Rachel came out of that break and hit three 3s right in a row and got us on the right track.”
Elzie finished with 24 points to lead all scorers as the Lady Knights improved to 7-5 overall and 2-0 in district play. Amber Cook fired in 17 points and Haggar Caldwell added 14 for Woodlawn in the victory.
Mallory McConathy led North DeSoto with 19 points and Carla Davis added 13 for the Lady Griffins.
Southwood 71, Parkway 18: At Southwood, Chelsea Tieuel continued her dominance over the opposition as the Lady Cowboys built a 42-10 halftime advantage and cruised to the District 1-5A win over the Lady Panthers.
Tieuel led all scorers with 16 points as Southwood improved to 15-7 overall and 2-0 in district. Jaiylan Brown scored 13 points, Shaun O’Guin dropped in 12 and Ashlyn Jackson added 10 for the Lady Cowboys.
Benton 57, Minden 53: At Minden, Gabby Jackson led the Lady Tigers as they rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat the Lady Tiders in District 1-4A action.
Jackson scored a game-high 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Benton improved to 15-8 overall and evened its district mark at 1-1. Megan Fream dropped in 18 points for the Lady Tigers.
Ja’Courtney Neloms led Minden (12-7, 1-1) with 20 points and Tiaga Pugh added 13.
Fair Park 70, Northwood 17: At Fair Park, the Lady Indians’ Tyronica Foster scored 22 points as Fair Park improved to 10-9 and 2-0 in district. Dominique Johnson recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Savonya Robinson added 13 points for the Lady Indians.
Loyola 63, Huntington 40: At Huntington, four Lady Flyers scored in double figures, led by Amber Smith’s 15 points, as Loyola improved to 13-9 overall and 2-0 in District 1-4A. Teammates Alex Williams, Caroline Holloway and Allyson Ruben scored 10 points each in the victory.
Tenisha Briggs had a game-high 21 points in defeat for Huntington (9-7, 0-2) and Ariel Jones added 10 for the Lady Raiders.
BTW 59, Bossier 54: At BTW, Kadeesha Gay led all scorers with 27 points for the Lady Lions and teammate Jameshia Morgan added 17, including four 3-pointers.
Necka Wynn scored 17 points to lead Bossier (6-13, 1-2) and Tiffany Lynn had 15 for the Lady Kats,
Evangel 63, North Webster 44: At North Webster, the Lady Eagles’ Tiara Young scored 19 points and Rachel Johnson fired in 14 points and had 11 rebounds as Evangel improved to 12-10 overall and 2-1 in District 1-3A play.
Destinie White led all scorers with 25 points but North Webster remained winless at 0-15 (0-3).
North Caddo 58, Lakeview 28: At Lakeview, Ledetriha Sheppard led the top-ranked Lady Rebels with 22 points as they improved to 21-1 overall and 2-0 in district. Sumer Williams had 11 points and Jasmine Thomas added 10 in the victory.
