Melbourne Central Catholic senior Brandon Ziarno threw for eight touchdowns on Senior Night.

The quarterback helped the Hustlers roll up 460 yards of total offense to defeat Potter’s House 56-22.

The Hustlers got on the scoreboard first when Ziarno connected with Josh Walts on a 15-yard touchdown pass. The Lions countered when Detronce Limmerick scored on a 10-yard run and caught the two-point conversion pass from Karon Ashley, giving the Lions an 8-7 lead after the first quarter.

From that point on, the game was controlled by MCC as Ziarno threw three more touchdown passes in the second quarter, giving the Hustlers a 28-16 lead at halftime.

The Hustlers’ defense caused four Lion turnovers as Will Erdman recovered a fumble and Cordae Lewis, Jumar Barnes and Nate Flemming each intercepted a pass.

KEY PLAYERS: QB Brandon Ziarno threw for 334 yards and eight touchdown passes in the game and set a new Space Coast career touchdown record of 100 TDs (88 passing and 12 rushing) for 7,094 yards. His favorite target Max Erdman also set a new MCC receiving record previously held by Rashawn Scott. Erdman added three touchdown receptions in the game for 70 yards, completing his receiving career with 2,111 yards and 33 touchdowns.

The Hustlers Chase Harris added 111 yards rushing on only 10 carries.

THEY SAID IT: “We’re really proud of our kids setting the records tonight” said Hustler Coach Mike Riazzi “This was a great senior night celebration for our entire team and a great preparation for the playoffs next week against Lakeland Christian.

UP NEXT: The Class 3A District 3 runner-up Hustlers (10-1, 4-1) will be on the road to face Lakeland Christian for the opening round of the FHSAA State Playoffs next Friday evening, while Potter’s House (4-5, 2-0) 2014 season is complete.
