Ethan tops Dells in Parkston
Kacey Bartscher scored 15 points and Karly Gustafson 14 to lead Ethan past Dell Rapids 56-46 on Monday in girls basketball action in the Parkston Classic. Elli Hohn and Rachel Hawkins had 11 points apiece and Amanda Miller five rebounds. For Dell Rapids, Mikaela Stofferahn had 14 points and Emma Paul 11.
Irene-Wakonda 54, Chester 48 – Andrea Sokolowski scored 21 points and Caitlin Hinseth 16 points for IW. Sokolowski also had seven rebounds. For Chester, Jenna Reiff scored 21 points and had eight rebounds.
Redfield-Doland 55, Parkston 47 – Jamie Tebben scored 22 points and had eight rebounds to lead RD. For Parkston, Paige Semmler and Kailee Schnabel both scored 11 points. Halli Heisinger and Keelan Bialas had nine points.
Wagner 57, Tri-Valley 53 – Emily Brunsing had 24 points with 14 rebounds and Ali Kuca 18 with 15 rebounds to lead Wagner. For Tri-Valley, Samantha Sommer scored 17 points and Taylor Will had nine points and 11 rebounds.

Arlington 45, Canistota 33 – Arlington had no problems beating Canistota, 45-33 at the Swiftel Center in Brookings.
Arlington had more rebounds (47) than total points. Bailee Steffensen led the way with a double double, 19 points and 13 rebounds. Jade Gallagher and McKenzie Mix grabbed ten boards apiece. Mix also snagged five steals.
For Canistota, Kalli Ortman led the team with 16 points and eight rebounds. Harley Cormany and Jillianne Hofer each hauled in five rounds.
Irene-Wakonda 54, Chester 48
Jenna Reiff led Chester with 21 points, eight rebounds, with two assists and two steals. Sierra VanLiere led the team in assists with four. Jadon Wages snagged seven rebounds along with six points.
No stats were given for Irene-Wakonda.
Seekamp earns Summit honor
South Dakota senior guard Nicole Seekamp has been named the Summit League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the period ended Dec. 27, as released by the league office Monday.
Seekamp collects her fifth career and second player of the week award this season. Seekamp scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Coyotes to an 85-76 road win at Illinois. She added six assists, five rebounds, and three steals in the victory.
Seekamp shot 63.6 percent (7-of-11) from the field, 50 percent (3-of-6) from three-point range, and 80 percent (4-of-5) at the free-throw line.
Nationally, Seekamp ranks sixth in steals per game at 3.64 and 13th in assists per game at 6.5. Her 14.6 points per game is sixth in the Summit League and 207th nationally. She’s the only player in the country averaging above 14.6 points, 6.5 assists, and 3.5 steals per game.
Seekamp was also named the College Sports Madness National Mid-Major Player of the Week and College Sports Madness Summit League Player of the Week.
