After a one year hiatus, the 37th annual Phil Simms North-South High School All-Star Football Classic is returning to Kean University.
In 2014, the game was played at Piscataway High School but on Monday, June 29 the North squad will challenge the South squad at 7 p.m. at Kean University’s Alumni Stadium.
The Shore Conference, as always, will be represented well as 17 players are scheduled to participate in the game, which will cost $10 at the gate.
Those 17 players are as followed: Long Branch’s Vincent Mota (K/P) and Dahmiere Willis (RB), Neptune’s Royal Moore (DB), Middletown North’s Troy Thompson (DB), Point Boro’s Jack Fitzsimmons (DB), Point Beach’s Jake Fioretti (DB), Toms River South’s Tymere Berry (QB), Lacey’s Conor Davies (QB), St. John Vianney’s Dan Calabro (WR), Matawan’s Justin Ferrara (WR), Jackson Memorial’s Matt Castronuova (WR) and Tyler Rauch (OL), Brick’s Ray Fattaruso (LB), Barnegat’s Xavier Young (OL), Toms River North’s Adam Kakar (DL), Pinelands’ David Stanton (OL) and Mater Dei Prep’s Quylil Maxwell (DL).
Last year, the Shore Conference played a heavy role in the game.
In 2014, Donovan Catholic’s Joey Fields scored the game-tying touchdown, Jackson Memorial’s Khani Glover had an interception, Manalapan’s Chris Noesges recovered a fumble and Colts Neck’s Anthony Gargiulo scored the game-winning touchdown as the South rallied for a 20-14 victory over the North at Piscataway High School.
