COACH OF THE YEAR: Rob Trifone, Darien

After harrowing defeats in back-to-back state championship games, Darien came through this year and won the Class LL title. Trifone’s squad scored plenty of points this fall, but the defense was the story in the playoffs. The unit averaged 11 points against for the season but held each of its playoff opponents to just seven points.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Isaiah Wright, Kingswood Oxford (West Hartford)

Wright accounted for 1,315 total yards and 18 touchdowns as a receiver and running back to lead Kingswood Oxford to a 7-1 season and a win in the NEPSAC’s Mike Atkins Bowl. The numbers might not seem eye-popping until you realize Kingswood Oxford played just eight games on the season. A Rutgers recruit, Wright averaged 15.1 yards per carry and 27.9 yards per catch and piled up 164 total yards per game.
