COACH OF THE YEAR: Joel Applebee, Mill Valley (Shawnee)
Applebee led the Jaguars to their first-ever state title in the fall, posting a 12-1 record (including a victory over 6A champ Derby) en route to the 5A crown. Mill Valley averaged 42 points per game on the year and was only held below 35 points twice.
OFFENSE
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Christian Jegen, Mill Valley (Shawnee)
Jegen found paydirt 31 times as a senior with 16 receiving scores, 14 on the ground and one on a punt return. He averaged 11.8 yards per touch and finished with 2,098 combined yards as the offensive star on a team that won the Class 5A title.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Amani Bledsoe, Lawrence
Bledsoe did it all for the Lions this fall, tallying 89 tackles, 11 sacks, three forced fumbles and three blocked kicks. Also a dominant offensive lineman, Bledsoe is considering offers from the likes of Oregon, Oklahoma and UCLA.
