COACH OF THE YEAR: Ricky Woods, Starkville

Woods experienced a familiar feeling in an unfamiliar setting this fall, leading Starkville to the Class 6A state championship in his first year at the helm. He’s no stranger to lifting trophies, however, as Woods won seven titles before this year’s triumph, including four in a row at South Panola from 2003-06. After an overtime loss to Class 4A champ Noxubee County to open the 2015 season, Woods led Starkville to 14 consecutive wins with an average margin of victory of 25 points.

Abraham came up one win short of his ultimate goal this fall as Oxford lost in the Class 5A title game, but he still had a season for the ages along the way. Abraham, a Tulane recruit, threw for 5,091 yards and 57 touchdowns against just six interceptions in 15 games. For his career, Abraham amassed 12,024 passing yards and 130 TDs.
