COACH OF THE YEAR: Mike Brodowicz, Charlotte Catholic (Charlotte)

All Brodowicz has done in his first two years in charge at Charlotte Catholic is go 29-2 and reach back to back Class 4A state championship games. After losing last year’s state final, the Cougars claimed this year’s crown on the back of a defense that allowed fewer than 10 points per game.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Chazz Surratt, East Lincoln (Denver)

Surratt left it all on the field in 2015. In the Class 2AA quarterfinals, Surratt had his left elbow dislocated but returned to the game and threw with his opposite arm (completing five passes) to help East Lincoln advance to the state semifinals. He had season-ending surgery following the game, leaving him with 3,546 passing yards and 48 touchdowns. He finished his career as North Carolina’s all-time record holder in passing yards (16,590) and passing touchdowns (229).
