AAU update: Nike EYBL and Adidas Uprising Session 2


Nike held the second session of its EYBL series in Lexington, Ky., last weekend. Both Seattle Rotary and NW Xpress failed to win a game (combined 0-8), but there were still solid stat-lines from some of the area’s top players.

Here’s a look at some of the highlights:

BABC 79, Seattle Rotary 74

Jaylen Nowell (Garfield) had 19 points, Daejon Davis (Lakeside) finished with 17, nine rebounds, and four assists. Nowell’s Garfield teammate Alphonso Anderson double-doubled with 13 points, 11 rebounds.

Expressions 62, Seattle Rotary 61

Nowell led Rotary’s scoring effort with 19 and also had seven rebounds. Jalen McDaniels (Federal Way) had seven points, 10 rebounds.

City Rocks 71, Seattle Rotary 61

Davis scored 19 points, Anderson had 14 and eight. Nowell pitched in 13.

Expressions 61, NW Xpress

Sam Cunliffe (Blanchet) is the only player from the Seattle area on the roster but Xpress also has Keinan Walter from Vancouver, Wash. Cunliffe had 12 and seven rebounds and Walter had 12 points.

Mac Irvin Fire 89, NW Xpress 60

Cunliffe had eight points and five rebounds, Walter finished with 12 points.

Las Vegas Prospects 77, NW Xpress 73

Cunliffe filled the stat-sheet with 15 points, six rebounds, and four assists.

The third session of the EYBL starts on May 8 in Houston.


The Adidas Uprising Gauntlet Series was in Indianapolis, Ind., with the Team Bradley NW Panthers representing the Seattle area.

The NW Panthers finished 2-2 on the weekend:

NW Panthers 54, Gateway Basketball Club 47

Isiah Brown (Lakeside) put up 20 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists in the win. Dominic Green (Hazen), who is the newest member of Lorenzo Romar’s incoming recruiting class, had 18 points and seven rebounds.

Ohio Basketball Club 81, NW Panthers 66

David Jenkins (Wilson High School) scored 20 points.

NW Panthers 74, Chauncey Billups Elite 65

Brown led with 24, Green added 15 and nine rebounds, Jenkins had 14.

Oakland Rebels 62, NW Panthers 60

The weekend’s last game was a big one for Jenkins, who had 22 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks. Brown was solid again with 18 points, and Green had 11 points, 10 rebounds.
