THE WINNER: Levi Thomet
School: Kodiak (Alaska)
Weight: 130 pounds
Athletic achievement: He raced to the Class 4A individual state championship this past season with a time of 15:10, leading the Bears to the state title as a team. The state’s two-time returning Gatorade Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year, Thomet finished 15th at the national Foot Locker Cross Country Championships in 15:33 to earn All-American status. He also finished second at the Nike Cross Nationals Northwest Regional championships and seventh at the Foot Locker West Regional championship.
Academic excellence: Thomet has maintained a 3.72 GPA.
Exemplary character: Also a talented musician, he has volunteered locally on behalf of youth hockey and running programs.
“Levi is blessed with a great deal of natural talent, and he has a great work ethic,” said Kodiak head coach Marcus Dunbar. “He sets new goals and gets better every year. He said his biggest accomplishment, though, was leading our team to a state title.”
THE FUTURE: Thomet remains undecided upon a collegiate destination.
