Alex Moreno tossed a complete-game three-hitter to lead Desert Hot Springs over Cathedral City 4-1 in high school baseball Wednesday.
Moreno struck out seven and allowed one earned run for the victory.
Jorge Cesena hit an RBI pinch-hit single for the Golden Eagles in the sixth inning.
Desert Hot Springs (1-4) hosts Cathedral City on Friday.
Summit 8, Desert Christian 4: Desert Christian (2-1) suffered its first loss of the season as Chris Palmer and Donny Roethler both went 2 for 4 with a double.
Summit scored two runs in the fifth inning to grab a 6-3 lead on the way to winning.
La Sierra 8, Indio 0: The Rajahs were shut out in the third round of the Chino Tournament.
Dominic Huerta and Chris Burciaga both went 2 for 3 for Indio. Juanny Siqueiros pitched 5 innings with three strikeouts and one earned run.
Indio plays at Garey High School at 3:15 p.m. Friday in the fourth round of the tournament.
Shadow Hills 239, Desert Hot Springs 328: Elijah Martinez and Julian Mata both shot 42s to lead the Knights to the win in their De Anza League opener. Cameron Dunn added a 45.
Shadow Hills (1-1, 1-0) plays La Quinta at SilverRock on Thursday.
Palm Desert 178, Cathedral City 296: Chase Werry carded a 2-under 34 on the Cathedral Canyon Country Club Lakes course to lead the Aztecs to the Desert Valley League victory.
TJ Wurtz, Justin Kallmann and Chase Cadwallader all shot 1-under 35s. Jake Vincent added a 39.
Patrick MiGihon led Cathedral City with a 43.
Palm Desert (4-1, 2-0) plays Palm Springs at Indian Canyons North on Thursday.
Palm Springs 212, Yucaipa 231: Quinn Swafford shot a 38 and Will McMahon added a 39 to lead the Indians at Indian Canyons North.
Palm Springs (2-2) hosts Palm Desert on the same course Thursday.
Palm Springs 103, Palm Desert 67: Christian Meyer and Joe Little each won two individual events and were on two winning relays to lead the Indians over the Aztecs.
Meyer took first in the 200 IM and 500 free, while Little won the 50 free and 100 free for Palm Springs.
Meyer and Little also teamed with Nick Gayer and Chris Passerino to win the 200 free relay and 400 free relay.
Also for the Indians, Josh Freeman won the 100 breast and Passerino won the 200 free.
For Palm Desert, Eric Shen won the 100 fly, and Noah Thomas won the 100 back. The medley relay team of Thomas, Shen, Andrew Park and Kenny Pineo won the 200 medley relay. Palm Desert faces Xavier Prep at the Palm Desert Swim Center on Thursday.
Palm Springs (1-0) swims again at the Rowland Invite on March 21.
La Quinta 109, Shadow Hills 61: Josh Purificacion and Tyler Jarrett each won two events for Shadow Hills in the meet Tuesday.
Purificacion took first in the 200 free and 100 breast, while Jarrett won the 200 IM and 100 butterfly.
Individual winners for La Quinta included Sam Turley (50 free), Spencer Lowell (100 free) and Alex Ostland (500 free).
Palm Desert 129, Palm Springs 41: Palm Desert took first in every event en route mto the DVL victory.
Ryan Hudson (100 fly and 500 free) and Elise Stein (200 I.M. and 100 breaststroke) each won twice for the Aztecs.
Other Palm Desert winners included Sarah Nichols (200 free), Savannah Clyde (50 free), Savi Hobbins (100 free) and Daria Wood (100 backstroke).
Emily Andrade, Stein, Hudson and Savannah Clyde won the 200 IM relay. Alissa Clyde, Sam Sandoval, Hudson and Alina Hudson won the 200 free relay. Nichols, Savannah Clyde, Hobbins and Stein won the 400 free relay.
