He’s been my captain three years, and led the team in points the last three years.”

SCHOOL: Port Huron Northern

YEAR: Senior

SEASON: Scored 15 goals and added 24 assists in 27 games. Was named Honorable Mention All-State in Division 2, and Second-Team All-Michigan Interscholastic Hockey League North Division.

COACH’S COMMENT: “He had some opportunities the last couple years, but he was snake bit and always hit the post or just missed the outside of the net,” Northern coach Daryel McCarrel said. “This year, the game slowed down for him. He became an impact player and a finisher.”

F CLAY WILSON

SCHOOL: Port Huron Northern

YEAR: Senior

SEASON: Scored 16 goals and added 24 assists in 27 games. Was named Honorable Mention All-Michigan Interscholastic Hockey League North Division.

COACH’S COMMENT: “Clay does everything,” Northern coach Daryel McCarrel said. “He’s your best forechecker, your hardest hitter, he makes plays — he can do a lot of different things. He can score, but he’s also good defensively.”

D JAKE SCHOTT

SCHOOL: Port Huron Northern

YEAR: Senior

SEASON: Had 12 assists in 24 games. Was named Honorable Mention All-Michigan Interscholastic Hockey League North Division.

COACH’S COMMENT: “Jake is that guy who stays at home, makes the right play, doesn’t hurt you,” Northern coach Daryel McCarrel said. “He’s not going to go out there and score you 20 goals from the point, but he’s going to be the guy back there finishing the hits.”

D NATE WILSON

SCHOOL: Port Huron Northern

YEAR: Senior

SEASON: Scored four goals and added 21 assists in 27 games. Was named Second-Team All-Michigan Interscholastic Hockey League North Division.

COACH’S COMMENT: “He’s a highly-skilled player,” Northern coach Daryel McCarrel said. “We saw that as a ninth grader when he came up, but he just needed to grow. You could see his skill level, we just needed him to grow into what he was right now. He became a great leader for us.”

G ALLY FETTERLY

SCHOOL: Port Huron

YEAR: Sophomore

SEASON: Had a 1.86 goals-against average and .880 save percentage in league play. Named First-Team All-Macomb Area Conference Blue Division.

COACH’S COMMENT: “I think, coming in, she really wanted to prove herself, because nobody gave her a chance,” Port Huron coach Ben Pionk said. “She was very motivated to prove to everybody that she could play. She takes a lot of pride in her goaltending, she works very hard at that, softball, volleyball — she’s a competitor.”

UTIL BRENDAN SHAGENA

SCHOOL: Port Huron Northern

YEAR: Senior

SEASON: Scored 17 goals and added 18 assists. Was named Honorable Mention All-State in Division 2, and Honorable Mention All-Michigan Interscholastic Hockey League North Division.

COACH’S COMMENT: “He was our jack of all trades guy,” Northern coach Daryel McCarrel said. “He played forward and defense for us. When he came onto our team, we wanted to teach him how to play defense.”
