Center Jake Jaremko of Elk River, Minn., has been selected as the American Family Insurance ALL-USA Boys Hockey Player of the Year.

The selections was made by David Darby of the Detroit Free Press with assistance from state hockey coaches associations and the NHL Central Scouting Department.

Position: Center
Height, weight: 5-11, 172
Year: Senior
Shoots: Left

Highlights: Scored 25 goals and 54 assists in 28 games and was named Minnesota’s Mr. Hockey in leading Elk River to a runner-up finish in Class 2A, Section 7. He had three goals and 11 points in the three playoff games.

He is the second player in school history to win the Mr. Hockey award; the other is Paul Martin, an NHL veteran currently with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He finished his high school career with 73 goals and 120 assists.

Jaremko is an athletic two-way player with plenty of speed and quickness, has tremendous hockey sense and is smart on the ice.

A native of Nowthen, Minn., he has signed with Minnesota-Mankato.
