Bill Schafhauser from Hill-Murray (Minn.) has been selected as the American Family Insurance ALL-USA Girls Hockey Coach of the Year.

The selection was made by David Darby of the Detroit Free Press with assistance from state hockey coaches associations and the U.S. Under-18 National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor, Mich.

 Bill Schafhauser
School: Hill-Murray (Maplewood, Minn.)

He guided the Pioneers to their second consecutive Class 2A state title, defeating top-seeded Minnetonka, 2-1, in the championship game. The school has made three consecutive state finals.

A  1980 Hill-Murray alum, he played for the school as a student and went on to a 12 year professional career in the minors and Europe after attending Northern Michigan.

He coached the boys team at Hill-Murray from 2004 to 2007 before moving to the girls program.
