Here’s a look at the Top Girls Basketball Performers for this week, led by Mesa Dobson guard Alexis Todd, who helped her team stay hot and remain firmly in the Division I title discussion.
Alexis Todd, Mesa Dobson, G – The senior scored 19 points as Dobson won its 11th consecutive game, a 57-38 victory over Scottsdale Chaparral.
Kayla Shaw, Chaparral, G – The junior hit five 3-pointers en route to 23 points as Chaparral routed Laveen Betty Fairfax 67-39.
Shaylee Gonzales, Gilbert Mesquite, G – The freshman put up 20 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three blocks in a 65-60 win over Tempe Corona del Sol. Gonzales leads Mesquite in each of those categories this season, as well as steals.
Najiyyah Pack, Phoenix South Mountain, G – The junior led South Mountain to a 42-38 win over Phoenix Shadow Mountain with 19 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Janae Gonzales, Phoenix Sierra Linda, G – Another talented freshman, Gonzales scored 25 points and drained four 3-pointers in a 61-30 victory against Buckeye.
Ashley Dempsey, Page, P – Helping her team stay undefeated, the junior posted 26 points and 13 rebounds and also made 11 of 12 free throws as Page beat Many Farms 79-34.
Tate Tsingine, Tuba City, F – The senior was huge on the defensive end in a 70-55 win over Kayenta Monument Valley, getting seven steals and four blocks in addition to her 24 points.
Makenna Merrell, Duncan, G – The junior helped her team knock off Elfrida Valley Union with a 50-38 win, tying her season high with 23 points.
