Deer Park prepares for its game against Freeman Friday night (January 16).

Throughout the final two months of the high school basketball season we will highlight five of the area’s stars, as seen on each edition of HSS 2Night Fridays on KREM 2 News at 11. They are our American Family Insurance ALL-USA Inland Northwest Weekly Performers.

Here are the top five players from January 13-16:

Deer Park guard Nate Guske: Though his team lost Friday, Guske dropped 32 points on the Freeman Scotties. He’s been on fire as of late as he’s averaging almost 25 points and 11 rebounds in his last four games.

Shadle Park guard Shyla Carr: The Highlanders are having a tough season, but Shyla Carr has been a nice bright spot for Tom Emory’s squad. She had 15 or more points in every game last week and averaged, just about, 56 percent of her team’s scoring.

Lake City forward Nick Hancock: Lake City won all three of its games last week and a big reason for the success, the big man, Nick Hancock down low. He shot 55 percent from the floor during this stretch and was outstanding in the rivalry game against CDA logging 19 points..

Central Valley forward/guard Lexie Hull: The Bears will be good for a long time, especially since Lexi Hull is just a freshman and performing at a very high level. Hull averaged 14 points in three games this week, including a big 20-point performance against defending state champs Gonzaga Prep.

Gonzaga Prep guard Laura Stockton: Speaking of GPrep, the team is still undefeated. The future Zag Laura Stockton averaged 17 points along with 6 assists. She also had 5 steals in the big win against Central Valley.
