Muncie Central gained a major addition on Monday as the Indiana High School Athletic Association ruled that Scecina transfer Andre Jones would have full and immediate eligibility.
IHSAA commissioner Bobby Cox said Jones, a 6-5 junior, was eligible under Rule 19-6.1b, which allows eligibility when a student moves between separated or divorced parents. Jones moved to the Muncie area to live with his father.
Scecina coach Rob New said last week that the school would recommend full eligibility for Jones, who had been a starter for the first six games for the Class 2A fifth-ranked Crusaders (9-3). Scecina is seeded No. 1 in the City tournament, which begins next week.
Class 3A Muncie Central is 5-6 but five of its six losses are to Class 4A programs.
