Sydney Pfotenhauer pitched a two-hitter to lead Appleton East to a 4-0 victory over Appleton North in a Fox Valley Association softball game Tuesday at East.

Pfotenhauer did not walk a batter and struck out four to lead the Patriots (19-9 overall, 12-6 FVA).

The Patriots went up 1-0 in the fourth inning on Abbie Frahm’s one-out double and one out later a double by Maddie Durie.

East added two more runs in the fifth inning on a single by Leslie Kasten, a one-out single by Teagan Wittmann that put runners on the corners, a run-scoring fielder’s choice and then a run-scoring single by Anna Pistone.

At Hortonville, Sammi Sullivan scattered five hits and struck out seven in pitching the Polar Bears (18-3, 15-2) past the Wildcats.

Hortonville got the only runs it needed in the first inning on a lead-off triple by Jordyn Brennan and a squeeze bunt by Lexy Campshure, who later scored the inning’s second run on a wild pitch.
