Teammates of Aquinas star Earnest Edwards wondered before and during the high school football season why the talented wide receiver had not received more athletic scholarship offers.
They watched Edwards, a receiver and running back, score 28 touchdowns this season, including four during the first half of the Class AA state final won by Aquinas.
The number of college teams interested in Edwards, who is 5 feet-10 inches and 170 pounds, is up to six. State University of New York at Buffalo gave Edwards an offer during the summer. Wagner, Old Dominion, Rhode Island, Monmouth and Maine also have shown interest.
High school football players around the nation can formally accept scholarship offers when the signing period opens Feb. 3.
