Seven area high school boats will compete for national titles this weekend, including five from Poughkeepsie.
The Scholastic Rowing Association of America National Championships Regatta will be held on Friday and Saturday on Cooper River in Camden, New Jersey.
Poughkeepsie is sending its lightweight girls quad (Eden Ciferri, Anna O’Shea, Rose Spuhler, Allysia Yanez), junior girls quad (Devin Tully, Fiona Mauer, Rita RezaSam Donahue), senior girls double (Makenzie Lewis, Ariel DelCastillo), lightweight boys quad (Chris Cassidy, Brian Panzer, Seth Carty, Stefan Mckain) and junior boys quad (Chris Nesheiwat, Rakeem Chambers, Zack Woolley, Jon Enciso).
Poughkeepsie’s lightweight girls quad earned a state championship in Saratoga Springs on May 11, and the Pioneers’ junior quad was sixth at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta last week in Philadelphia.
Arlington’s girls senior eight (Olivia May, Michelle Tebolt, Kendra Sommer, Gabrielle Tutoni, Renata Davie, Nicole Tutoni, Claira Baker, Abbey Wicklund, Paige Foti) will also compete, as will Rhinebeck’s lightweight girls eight (Caitlin Melvin, Madison Lortie, Casey Heady, Emma Kroll, Maggie Hanson, Jamie Waltzer, Sabrina Shih, Isabel Murray, Sarah Prosser).
The Arlington girls enter the meet having won the Dutchess Cup team title on Tuesday.
