Area prep gridiron stars earn spot on AmFam ALL-USA Ohio Football Team

Several Northeast Ohio high school football players and a coach earned a spot on the 2015 American Family Insurance All-USA Ohio Football Team, which was released by USA TODAY High School Sports on Wednesday.

Archbishop Hoban’s Tim Tyrrell was named Coach of the Year after leading the Knights to the Division III state title.

Hoban junior running back Todd Sibley, Benedictine senior wide receiver Justin Layne, St. Ignatius senior offense lineman Liam Eichenberg and Walsh Jesuit offensive lineman Jack Wohlabaugh earned recognition as first-team offensive selections.

St. Edward defensive lineman Michael O’Malley, Hoban senior linebacker Jonah Morris, and St. Edward senior Tony Butler earned spots on the squad’s first-team defense

Avon senior quarterback Jake Sopko, Massillon Perry senior running back Keishaun Sims, Perry tight end Luke Farrell and Berea-Midpark senior offensive lineman Zach Bycznski earned recognition as second-team offensive selections.

Hudson senior defensive lineman Roman Moreno, Berea-Midpark senior linebacker Joe Bachie, and Akron Garfield senior defensive back Jataris Grant earned spots on the squad’s second-team defense.
