ELWOOD, Ind. – Union County defeated Blue River and Elwood on Saturday to win the Big Cat Classic.
The Patriots defeated the Vikings 5-1. Mason Miller had a double and drove in two runs, while Bryce Fields pitched a complete game for the win.
In the second game, Union City knocked off Elwood 12-1. Kade Stephens picked up the win, Caleb Greene tripled twice and drove in six runs and Mason Miller had two doubles.
Union County hosts Knightstown on Monday.
Richmond split Saturday in the NCC Tournament, defeating Anderson 11-10 before falling 9-0 to Harrison.
Richmond’s Mackenzie Taylor went 3-for-5 with three RBIs against Anderson, with Keara Henderson, Elissa Tilton and Chloe Bennett all adding two hits and an RBI. Grace Townsend also knocked in a run for the Red Devils.
Knights win invite
FOUNTAIN CITY, Ind. – Katie Schneider padded her state-leading home run total with three Saturday and Northeastern won its own invitational with victories over Crispus Attucks 19-0 and DeKalb 2-1.
The championship game vs. DeKalb was shortened to five innings due to weather.
Schneider added seven RBIs against Attucks while striking out nine from the circle and adding 10 against DeKalb.
She now has 14 home runs on the year.
Sierra Gilmore had two doubles and five RBIs against Attucks.
The Knights (10-8) host Daleville on Tuesday.
Bulldogs clinch share of TEC
LEWISVILLE, Ind. – Centerville clinched at least a share of its first Tri-Eastern Conference title on Saturday as the Bulldogs bested Tri High 2-0.
Amanda Wilson scored both runs for the Bulldogs, while Madison Clark doubled. Lauren Honkomp pitched a complete game as Centerville improved to 6-0 in TEC play.
“We’re very pleased with the focus of our girls,” said Centerville assistant coach Mike Smith.
The Bulldogs (11-5) have a shot at an outright championship on Monday as they play host to Union County. The Patriots and Northeastern are each still in the hunt for a share of the title.

BLACKFORD, Ind. – Union County won the Blackford invitational Saturday, beating Blackford 18-15 in the first game and Delta 5-4 in the second.
Maddie Walters carried the offense for the Patriots, going 8-for-9 on the day, hitting two home runs against Delta and had 11 total RBIs.
Emma Adams went 6-for-9 with four RBIs.
Union County (19-9) plays at Centerville Monday.

Red Devils finish sixth
Richmond finished in sixth place out of 10 teams in the NCC Tournament Saturday.
Jarrett Focht had the best day for the Red Devils, shooting 82.

Eagles win SWBL
BELLBROOK, Ohio – Eaton finished in first place at the Southwest Buckeye League Track and Field Championships Saturday with 143.5 points.
Seth Reynolds won the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.43 and the 300 hurdles with a time of 40.54 for the Eagles.
Darius Spears won the shot put with a distance of 47-3, and Seth Wright won the pole vault with 13-6.
