Another week of prep baseball season in the books and there was quite the influx of great stories from the pitcher’s mound this week.

Mangham pitcher Will Harwell is scheduled to start Monday, but it will be tough for the senior to improve on last week. Harwell pitched his second no hitter of the season and in a 10-0 win over Delhi Charter.

Harwell struck out 12 batters along the way. The game followed a no hitter March 31 against the Bastrop Rams.

Speaking of strikeouts, nobody was doing that better than Ruston pitcher Cade Gibson on Friday. Gibson struck out 14 as Ruston won at Ouachita 8-0.

It was a key win for the Bearcats who are still trying to find their way in some ways. First it was a big night offensively, something even coach Toby White admitted the team had not had a lot of this season. Also, the win was on the road and meant a series win for Ruston against a district rival.

Gibson also picked up two RBI at the plate the show he has the potential to make plays on offense and defense for the young Bearcats.

With more baseball and softball games scheduled for the coming week, who will be the next to make a big splash?

Only time will tell.
