Scoring a pair of runs to break a tie in the top of the sixth inning, the Arlington High School B baseball team earned an 11-9 comeback victory at Putnam Valley on Sunday.
After going down 6-2, the Admirals scored seven runs in the fifth inning to pull ahead. Putnam Valley responded with three runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the score.
Arlington B made use of a pair of Putnam Valley mistakes and hits by Jimmy Egan and Dave Fendrich to score in the sixth.
Austin Grossman had two hits for Arlington B, and both Chris Molella and Will Jackson added two RBI.
Vinny Pulitano earned his second two-inning save in as many games, striking out three without allowing a hit, to preserve the win for John Smith (1-1).
“I am very pleased with our offensive output today,” Arlington B coach Matt Veronesi said in a statement, “and Vinny did a great job once again closing the door on a very good hitting Putnam Valley team. Defensively we weren’t as sharp as (Saturday) and we need to pick it up in (Monday’s) game.”
Arlington B hosts Hendrick Hudson on Monday.
