Lindsey Strainis had a two-run double in the fourth inning that gave Ashwaubenon a 2-1 lead and it never looked back as it topped Lawrence County (Ky.) 5-1 on Friday.

Sylvia Vanniewenhoven added a two-run double in the fifth to help the Jaguars in the win.

Breanna Schmitt fired a complete-game three-hitter, allowing one earned run with two walks and seven strikeouts as Ashwaubenon starts its season with a 2-0 record.

LATE THURSDAY

SOCCER

Freshman Kyla Ryan scored three goals as Seymour beat Freedom 6-1 in a nonconference girls soccer game Thursday night.

Kelsey Kominowski added two goals and one assist, while Anna Froehlich scored one goal in the win.

Madilyn Heinke has two saves in goal and the only goal let in came off of a penalty kick for Freedom.

BASEBALL

Richie Weber went 3-for-4 with five RBI to lead Crandon to a 12-10 nonconference victory over Gillett.

Garrett Kohls was 2-for-2 with two runs scored in the loss for the Tigers.
