Junior running back Austin Kopp ran for seven touchdowns as host Corydon got off to a fast start and rolled to a 46-13 win over visiting Silver Creek in a Mid-Southern Conference football game Friday night.
In a first half marked by big plays, the host Panthers (1-2, 1-1) made most of them.
Corydon took the opening kickoff and made short work of their first drive – five plays capped by a 31-yard touchdown run by Kopp. Lannis Buck added a two-point run and the Panthers led 8-0 just two minutes into the game.
Following a Silver Creek turnover, Buck connected with Jordan Watson for a 79-yard pass to the Silver Creek 2-yard line – Kopp scored two plays later.
The Dragons got a big play of their own moments later when Noah Jones rambled for a 68-yard score, but Silver Creek would get no closer than 14-6.
The Panthers got their biggest play of the night – a 95-yard touchdown run by Kopp – and Corydon led 20-6 at the end of the first quarter.

Turnovers by both teams slowed the offenses in the second quarter. That didn’t keep Kopp from the end zone, but it took a big play by the Panthers to set it up.
Facing fourth and 10 at the Silver Creek 45, Buck hit Tyler Jones for a 22-yard pass. On the next play, Kopp went 23 yards to score and the Panthers led 26-7 at the break.
A Silver Creek (2-1, 1-1) turnover to start the third quarter set up a 20-yard touchdown run by Kopp moments later, and the Panthers were in control – 32-7 at the 9:21 mark. Kopp added his 6th and 7th touchdowns of the night late in the third quarter.
