Lawrence North senior Pat Bacon and Roncalli junior Lindsey Corsaro were among those selected as IBCA/Subway Players of the Week.
Bacon, a 6-foot guard, led Lawrence North (9-1) to two victories. He had 35 points, four assists and three steals in a 98-86 win over Tech and followed it with 27 points in a 68-60 win over Warren Central.
Corsaro averaged 30.5 points and 12.5 rebounds in two games for Roncalli (13-4). Corsaro had 29 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists in a 67-54 win over Franklin Central and had 32 points and 11 rebounds in a 65-38 win over Beech Grove.
Josh Speidel, a 6-8 senior at Columbus North, averaged 30.0 points and 10.5 rebounds to also earn IBCA honors. The Vermont recruit had 22 points and 13 rebounds in a 57-45 win over Terre Haute North and scored a career-high 38 points with eight rebounds in an 88-55 win over Jennings County.
Other winners were Westfield senior Chandler Aspy (42 points in a 65-60 double-overtime win East Noble) and LaCrosse junior Johnny Rosenbaum (40 points and 18 rebounds in a game). Aspy surpassed 1,000 career points.
Other girls’ winners were Gary West sophomore Dana Evans and Jennings County senior Baylee Krueger.
• Southport (10-0), the top-ranked team in Class 4A, moved up to No. 16 in the latest MaxPreps national rankings. USA Today has the Cardinals in its “next 25” of its Super 25, listed at No. 45.
The Cardinals are among the teams to watch in this week’s Marion County tournament.
