NEOHBCA hosts games, honors POYs, HOF enshrinees at Canal Park

The Northeast Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association hosted its all-star event – featuring three games – and honored its 2015 hall of fame induction class on June 24 at Canal Park in Akron.

The first contest featured standout players from Summit County against all-stars from Columbiana, Mahoning, Portage and Trumbull counties.

The second game featured standout players from Cuyahoga County against all-stars from Lake, Geauga, and Ashtabula counties.

The final matchup featured standout players from Medina, Ashland, and Lorain counties against all-stars from Holmes, Stark and Wayne counties.

Congrats to all participants.

The NEOBCA also honored its district players and coaches of the year as well as its 2015 hall of induction class.

Walsh Jesuit’s Ryan Feltner was recognized as the Division I Player of the Year while Wadsworth’s Greg Pickard was honored as the Division I Coach of the Year.

Canton South’s D.J. Wilson was recognized as the Division II Player of the Year while the Wildcats’ Trent McIlvain was honored as the Division II Coach of the Year.

Canton Central Catholic’s Patrick Murphy was recognized as the Division III/IV Player of the Year while the Crusaders’ Doug Miller was honored as the Division III/IV Coach of the Year.

Lakewood’s Katie Ribar and Kent Roosevelt’s Tyler Jones were recognized as the association’s 2015 scholarship recipients.

Brunswick’s Bill Frey, Cleveland Central Catholic’s Joe Kilburg, Westlake’s Ken Krepop, Rocky River’s Jim Rucki and Benedictine’s Brian Sliwinski were officially enshrined into the NEOBCA Hall of Fame.
