Ryan Frost tossed a complete-game shutout, giving up four hits and striking out three, as the host Bulldogs beat Our Lady of Lourdes, 5-0, and improved to 18-8-1 in a Section 1 Class A outbracket game.
Justin Warner swatted a two-run homer, while Brendon Malouf went 3 for 3. Declan Costello and Anthony Thompson each recorded two hits. Rafael Figuereo (RBI single) and Lenny Torres (RBI) each contributed.
“We hit the ball very well today, and we played excellent defense,” said Beacon coach Bob Atwell. “And we pitched great — Ryan has been a workhorse for us all year on the hill.”
Dan Owens and Tayler Howlett both notched two hits for Lourdes.
Beacon visits Yorktown on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. to face the sixth-seeded Huskers in a first-round game.
Spackenkill 10, New Paltz 8 — The visiting Spartans plated a pair of runs in the eighth inning as Joe Arcuri scored on a wild pitch, and Brandon Conrad executed a safety squeeze bunt, scoring Ryan Espinoza.
Justin Etts (4 for 4, triple, double, four runs scored) pitched a scoreless eighth inning, picking up a save. Spackenkill (14-6) got two-run home runs from Andre Albanese and Jason Stevens.
Steve Branche was 3 for 4 with two runs scored for New Paltz. Chris Baker was 2 for 4 with two RBI.
Marlboro 11, Haldane 0 — Xavier Oliver had three hits and two runs scored as the visiting Iron Dukes beat the Blue Devils.
John Mooradian had two hits, an RBI and three runs scored for Marlboro (15-4). Kyle Cherubini had two hits and two RBI.
Daniel Rotando had a hit for Haldane (6-14).
