After squandering a seven-run advantage on the road, the Franklin D. Roosevelt High School baseball team lost a 9-8 decision to Saugerties on Tuesday on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth inning.

“We had an 8-1 lead after three innings and we stopped playing baseball,” Roosevelt coach Kory VanZandt said. The Sawyers scored four runs in the sixth inning and three in the seventh.

Tyler Myers had two hits and two RBI for the Presidents, while Alex Marinelli had a two-run hit and Ryan Boryk had an RBI single. Starting pitcher Will Grega had three hits of his own.

Roosevelt (2-1) faces Highland at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill on Thursday.

Rondout Valley 9, Poughkeepsie 3 — Mark Weaver doubled and Johnny Mayorga had three walks, three stolen bases and a run scored.

Poughkeepsie (1-4) visits Wallkill at 4:15 p.m. Thursday.
