Nick Mongelli and Scott Oliver combined on a one-hitter as Marlboro defeated visiting Red Hook on Saturday, 2-0.
Mongelli (1-1) walked one in six innings and struck out five, before Oliver pitched a perfect seventh inning for the save, striking out two.
Nick Carlson had the lone hit in Red Hook’s season-opening game.
“I was very pleased with our pitching,” said Marlboro coach Dave Onusko, whose team improved to 1-1. “We were clean on defense, no errors. It was very good.”
John Mooradian went 3 for 3 with an RBI, while Xavier Oliver had an RBI single and Scott Oliver hit a double. Marlboro left 10 Iron Dukes on base.
Arlington 10, Fox Lane 4 — Evin Kleinganz tossed six innings, letting up one earned run on five hits and striking out nine for the victory.
Simon Alvarez finished 3 for 4 with two home runs, five RBI and three runs scored for Arlington. Ryan Quinn finished 3 for 4 with a single, a double and a triple while T.J. Greco was 1 for 3 with a home run.
“We started off kind of hot, got three runs in the first inning,” Admirals coach Darrell Flynn said. “It’s been a great start to the season.”
Arlington (3-0) will host Horace Greeley at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
Haldane 12, Poughkeepsie 9 — Sophomore Brian Haines pitched the host Blue Devils to victory in five innings with eight strikeouts. He let up five hits and walked two while going 2 for 3 with three RBI at the dish.
Teammate Justin Furdico went 3 for 3 with three RBI, while David Rotando finished 2 for 4 with three RBI.
Marcus Blocker was 2 for 3 with three RBI for the Pioneers.
Haldane (2-2) hosts Lourdes at 4:30 p.m. Monday. Poughkeepsie (1-3) will host Saugerties at 4:15 p.m. Monday.
Pawling splits doubleheader — The hometown Tigers beat Yonkers Montessori 5-4, but took a 5-4 loss to Upton Lake Christian Academy.
Mike Modaruli notched the game-winning double in the bottom of the seventh against Yonkers Montessori.
David Bellucci pitched five innings and struck out nine in the loss to Upton Lake. Tyler Schilib relieved him, tossing two frames and striking out two batters.
Pawling (2-1) travels to Montrose at 4:30 p.m. on Monday to Play Hendrick Hudson.
Horace Greeley 9, John Jay 2 — Antonio Pragana and Peter Dimeglio each went 2 for 4, and Dimeglio had an RBI, but the Patriots lost at Fishkill’s Dutchess Stadium late Friday.
John Jay (1-2) hosts Beacon at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
