Mark Weaver pitched a complete game, striking out 14 batters, while issuing one walk, as the visiting Poughkeepsie High School baseball team topped Peekskill 8-1 on Saturday.
Weaver allowed three Peekskill hits.
Ramon Lucas finished 3 for 5 with three runs scored and a double. As a team, Poughkeepsie drew 11 walks.
“We had good plate discipline,” Poughkeepsie coach Mark Bianco said. “The story was Weaver, though. He was dominant. He hit his spots, had command of his pitches and put the team on his back. We needed a win and got one.”
Poughkeepsie (2-6) plays at Saugerties at 4:15 p.m. Monday.
Pawling 6, Upton Lake Christian 4 — Andrew Sprague (2 for 4, RBI), David Bellucci (2 for 4, double) and Tyler Schilib (2 for 3, two runs) contributed for the visiting Tigers in a win.
Schilib struck out six over 5 2/3 innings for Pawling (5-3), which hosts Haldane at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Putnam Valley 2, John Jay 1 — Nick Peterson tossed 6 1/3 innings for the visiting Patriots, letting up two unearned runs.
“It was a gutty, really good game,” John Jay coach Eric Frink said. “But our offense wasn’t there and our defense let us down once again.”
John Jay (2-5) hosts Roy C. Ketcham Tuesday.
Brewster 6, Our Lady of Lourdes 3 — T.J. Masella and Dan Casey each had two hits, but the host Warriors fell.
Masella doubled and Casey scored a run for Lourdes (4-2). Vin Savino struck out four in three scoreless innings.
“To our credit, we started to mount a comeback, but it was not enough,” Lourdes coach Derrick Damiano said.
Lourdes visits Carmel at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
