Mark Weaver’s complete game led Poughkeepsie High School’s baseball team to a 3-1 win over visiting Wallkill Monday.
Weaver struck out five batters and walked four. At the plate he drove in a run with a single in the first inning. Fellow Pioneer Treyvon Stokes finished 2 for 2 with an RBI single and a run.
On defense, Eric Ramos made four catches in the outfield.
“He was a big defensive presence,” Poughkeepsie coach Mark Bianco said of Ramos. “He saved us three runs.”
Poughkeepsie (4-6) travels to Red Hook Wednesday.
Spackenkill 12, Dover 1 — Josh Rosario allowed two hits and an unearned run in a complete-game effort for the host Spartans.
Rosario (3-1) struck out eight, while going 2 for 3 with three runs and three RBI at the plate. Teammate Joe Arcuri added two hits, a run and three RBI, and Joe Oppedisano went 2 for 4 with three runs and two RBI.
“It was a well-pitched game by Josh,” Spackenkill coach Don Neise said. “We did a nice job with our bats.”
Spackenkill (6-3, 5-0 league) visits Pine Plains on Wednesday.
For Dover (1-4), Sebastian Merlo had a hit and scored a run.
Marlboro 7, Red Hook 2 — Nick Mongelli struck out eight and walked four for a complete-game victory on the road.
Marlboro scored six runs in the sixth inning to pull away, with Scott Oliver and Cole Nicolis each collecting two hits.
For Red Hook (5-3), which hosts Poughkeepsie Wednesday, A.J. Coolbaugh went 3 for 2 and Kevin Jordan was 2 for 3 with an RBI.
Webutuck 17, Ellenville 0 — Chris Reed held Ellenville without a hit, striking out eight and walking one as the Warriors improved to 6-1.
At the plate, Reed went 4 for 6 with five runs, three RBI and two doubles. Andrew Thrasher and Tommy Ford each notched two RBI while LeShawn Thrasher had three RBI.
“It was good to score some runs,” Webutuck coach Tim McEnroe said.
Roy C. Ketcham 5, Lakeland 2 — James Jakuba picked up his first varsity win in relief, allowing one hit over 42/3 innings with no walks and three strikeouts.
Matt Lynch (3 for 3, two runs), Nick Sheppard (2 for 3, three RBI), Jon Cepeda (2 for 3, RBI) and Nick Simmons (solo home run) provided the Indians’ offense.
Ketcham (8-3) hosts Our Lady of Lourdes Wednesday.
Pine Plains 13, Rhinebeck 4 — Matt Pelletier was 3 for 4 with an RBI and three runs scored for the host Bombers. John Wheeler (2 for 4, run, RBI) and Peter Ducillo (1 for 3, two runs) also contributed.
On the mound Matt Funk picked up the win, tossing 42/3 innings with three strikeouts, one walk and one unearned run allowed.
Ryan Euell was 1 for 3 with a walk and two runs scored for Rhinebeck. Chris Cassens finished 2 for 4.
Pine Plains (4-5) hosts Spackenkill Wednesday while Rhinebeck hosts Onteora Wednesday.
John A. Coleman 9, Millbrook 6 — Brogan Revay was 2 for 3 for the host Blazers, who dropped to 5-1. Revay also made a catch in the outfield in the seventh inning and threw the ball home for an outfield assist.
Millbrook plays at Webutuck on Wednesday.
Hendrick Hudson 8, Arlington B 0 — The visiting Sailors broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the fourth. Arlington B dropped to 2-3.
Faith Christian Academy 12, Well Played Warriors 2 – Jordan Springstead picked up nine strikeouts while Austin Ackerbauer tripled and scored two runs for the winners.
Aaron Wasvary finished with two runs and two hits.
Faith Christian Academy plays again Wednesday against New York Military Academy.
