This is an odd week in the high school sports landscape.
There are lots of events happening, especially with many of last week’s contest that got postponed due to weather rescheduled for this week.
But there aren’t tons of huge games in Fort Collins. It’s a sort of lull before most sports hit the peak time of the season, but here are a couple big events that are happening.
Tuesday: Fort Collins vs. Rocky Mountain baseball, 6:30 p.m. at City Park. The two best baseball teams get the big stage under the lights at City Park.
The Lobos (9-3, 6-0 Front Range League) are No. 1 in Class 5A in the latest Associated Press media poll and have won eight games in a row.
Fort Collins (7-4, 4-1 FRL) has won three in a row and the Lambkins are looking to knock Rocky Mountain off as the top team in the city.
Tuesday/Wednesday: Front Range League girls tennis tournament, at Centennial Park in Greeley. The conference tournament doesn’t have any bearing on who makes the state tournament, but it’s still a good test late in the season.
Fort Collins, Fossil Ridge, Poudre and Rocky Mountain will all hope to claim the first conference title of the spring season.
