Walsh Jesuit High School baseball coach Chris Kaczmar will be enshrined the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association’s four-member 2015 hall of fame class during the association’s coaches’ clinic today in Columbus.
Kaczmar, a 1988 WJ alum, returned to his high school alma mater as an assistant baseball coach in the 1995 season and was promoted to head coach in 1997.
During the past 18 seasons with Kaczmar at the helm, the Warriors have posted a cumulative 444-83 record while earning eight conference championships, 16 sectional titles, 11 district titles, three regional runner-up finishes, six regional titles, two state runner-up finishes and four state championships.
Tippecanoe’s Bruce Cahill, Elmwood’s Kyle Reiser and Convoy Crestview’s Jim Wharton comprise the rest of the enshrinement class.
NEOBCA names hall of fame inductees
The Northeast Ohio Baseball Coaches Association recently announced its 2015 hall of fame class. The enshrines are Brunswick’s Bill Frey, Cleveland Central Catholic’s Joe Kilburg, Westlake’s Ken Krepop, Rocky River’s Jim Rucki and Benedictine’s Brian Sliwinski. The honorees will be inducted during the annual NEOBCA All-Star Game to be played at Akron’s Canal Park at a date and time to be determined.
