2015 Walsh High School graduate Dominic Mittiga has committed to continue his academic and athletic career at John Carroll University. Mittiga will play for the school’s NCAA Division III baseball program.

Mittiga was a co-captain as a senior and is the eighth member of his graduating class slated to play in college next season.

The third baseman was named a 2015 Silver Slugger Award winner and a 2015 Christian Athlete Award recipient.

“I have had the great pleasure and genuine honor to coach members of the Mittiga family for eight years now, and I can say that Dominic Mittiga is one of the most kind, mature and sincere young men I have had the good fortune to coach,” Walsh Jesuit baseball coach Chris Kaczmar said in a prepared statement. “He is a fierce competitor, a very bright base runner and an impactful player in so many other phases of the game.”

Mittiga graduated second honors with a 3.45 GPA and was an active volunteer on Walsh Jesuit’s Labre program. A two-sport athlete, he was also a four-year member of the basketball team.

Mittiga plans to major in biology at JCU.
