Coach Brian Antalek has seen improvement in his Beacon High School softball team of late.
On Tuesday, the Bulldogs showed it with an 11-4 home victory over Peekskill.
“We’ve been playing hard all season and the results haven’t been in our favor a lot of the games,” Antalek said of his 2-7 team. “We’ve been playing well, and I see a lot of good things for us from here on out.”
Sydney Dexter went 3 for 3 with three runs and three stolen bases for Beacon, and Rebecca Ciancanelli went 2 for 4 with four RBI, two runs and two stolen bases. Sierra Lombardi went the distance, holding Peekskill to seven hits and two earned runs.
Beacon hosts Walter Panas on Wednesday.
Pawling 3, Pleasantville 2 — Lily Prinz was 2 for 4 and scored the game-winning run in the seventh inning on a throwing error as the host Tigers won.
Prinz singled, stole second base and Sandy Spicer had a bunt single that Prinz then scored on.
Kayla Chavarri struck out 12 over seven innings for Pawling (7-1). Chavarri also doubled. Natalie Grillo and Olivia Zoeller each had RBI for Pawling.
Late Tuesday, Zoeller struck out 10 in five relief innings and also had a double and three RBI in Pawling’s 10-9 home win over Horace Greeley. Pawling came back from an 8-0 deficit.
Horace Greeley 9, Arlington B 4 — Celine Gonzalez had an RBI single that drove in Gabby Lamoree and Cecilia McPeck singled in Vietta Barnard, but the host Admirals (3-4) fell.
Arlington B visits Pawling at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
John Jay 11, Yorktown 6 — Jaimie Harney swatted a two-run home run as part of a six-run sixth inning for the host Patriots late Monday. Erika Flemmig started the rally with a sacrifice bunt and an RBI.
The Patriots (7-1) hosts Mahopac at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Walter Panas 5, Our Lady of Lourdes 2 — Chloe Weeks and Abby Weeks scored for the visiting Warriors late Monday.
Lourdes (3-4) plays at Roy C. Ketcham Wednesday.
Wallkill 3, Poughkeepsie 2 — Kayla West tripled, but the visiting Pioneers lost late Monday.
Aiden King scored two runs and drove in two more in Pawling’s 10-6 road win over Peekskill.
David Bellucci went 3 for 5, scoring two runs and hitting a double for Pawling. Steve Campbell went 2 for 2, notching a double and an RBI. Tyler Schilb (4-1) pitched five innings in the win.
Pawling (6-4) plays Wednesday against Arlington B.
Franklin D. Roosevelt 12, Clarkstown North 4 — Isiah Nugent struck out eight Rams, improving his record to 2-1, as Roosevelt soared to a win.
Will Grega went 4 for 4 with four RBI. Kyle Zigner had two hits and three RBI. Nick Rand also pitched in with two hits and an RBI. Brandon Greenspan, Alex Marinelli and Tyler Myers each contributed two hits to bring Roosevelt to a record of 7-1.
“Things are starting to click offensively,” Roosevelt coach Kory VanZandt said. “They had a lot of confidence both offensively and defensively. It was good fun to watch.”
Roosevelt visits Marlboro at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Carmel 15, Lourdes 8 — John Vasilack was 2 for 2 with a run scored, but the Warriors lost in eight innings.
Joe Cigna was 2 for 4 with two RBI and a run scored for Lourdes (5-1). Curt Jorgensen tossed five innings, allowing one earned run and striking out five.
Lourdes visits Ketcham at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Faith Christian Academy 12, Well Played Warriors 2 — Jordan Springstead picked up nine strikeouts while Austin Ackerbauer tripled and scored two runs for the winners late Monday.
Aaron Wasvary finished with two runs and two hits.
Faith Christian Academy plays again Wednesday against New York Military Academy.
