John Glenn 99, Cambridge 48: Drew Rackley scored 28 points and nailed four three-pointers, Tanner Slack added 15 points and Austin Blatt had 14 for John Glenn Friday night in a season-opening romp at Cambridge. Matt Weir added 11 points and Jah Blevins and Matt Stewart each had 10.

Rackley also had seven rebounds, four assists and three steals for the Muskies, who led 29-8 after one period and 60-25 at halftime.

Josh Lewis led the Bobcats with 16 points and Kohl Taylor had 10.

Meadowbrook 68, Philo 42: Justin Cork scored 20 points and Parker Black added 17 for the Meadowbrook Colts Friday night in a win at Philo in the season-opening game for both teams. The Colts opened a 21-8 lead after one period and steadily pulled away. Black had eight rebounds and Logan Wolverton had seven for the Colts.

Wyatt Carder led the Electrics with 16 points and Lane Deal had 12 rebounds and two blocks. Cole Smith had three assists and three steals for Philo, which was plagued by 30 turnovers.

Meadowbrook also won the reserve game 46-25, led by Trey Singleton’s 25 points. Jake McElhaney had eight points for the Electrics.

Monroe Central 66, West Muskingum 53: Kyle Lones and Gunner Hazen each scored 11 points for West Muskingum Friday night in a season-opening loss at Monroe Central. The Tornadoes trailed 12-9 after one quarter but were outscored 20-8 in the second for a 32-17 halftime deficit.

Howell scored 30 points to lead the Seminoles and Graham added 15.

Fairfield Union 65, New Lexington 47: Thomas Green had 21 points and Hayden Price added 13 as the Falcons topped the Panthers on opening night. Tyler Brown had 14 points for New Lexington and Gage Morgan had 10 points.

Girls Basketball

Maysville 44, Sheridan 35: Kori Sidwell scored 14 points and Kendal Kirkbride had 13 points and eight steals for visiting Maysville Friday night in a Muskingum Valley League win at Sheridan. Katie Stottsberry pulled down 11 rebounds for the Panthers. Maysville pulled out a 25-15 lead at the half.

Rachel Cook led the Generals with eight points and Katrina Scheuvront added seven points and 10 rebounds. The Generals committed 28 turnovers.

Maysville also won the reserve game 42-38 behind 15 points by Riley Winsor. Jena Wharton had 10 points for the Generals.

Morgan 66, Crooksville 40: Kaylie Apperson scored 33 points on a school-record 10 three-pointers Friday night for host Morgan in a Muskingum Valley League win over Crooksville. Danin Greuey added 11 points for the Raiders, who led 32-25 at the half and outscored the Ceramics 20-2 in the third period for a 52-27 lead.

Braydee Smith had seven rebounds for Morgan and Apperson and Kara Hopkins each had four assists. Hopkins also had four steals.

Josie Channel lad Crooksville with 15 points and Kate Mills had 10. Carson Miller had four rebounds, four steals and a block for the Ceramics and Channel had three assists.
