“We’re healthy, that’s big, and we’re confident,” CC coach Mitch Hancock said. “I love this team. We’re 22-3 on the year. And I look back on last year’s team and we went to the state tournament at 15-4, so for this team to be 22-3 … we just found out we beat the Ohio Division 1 champion, beat a good Dundee team, beat a good Hudson team and we beat some really quality teams. I’m proud of this team. They had a nice year so far, but we’re not done.”
Scoring two pins on the night for the Shamrocks included Trevor(130-135 pounds), who was a state champion last year at 119; Nick (189-215), who was third at 189; and Tyler (171-189). Heavyweight Nick Jenkins also won both his matches.
Meanwhile, Myles Amine (160), who was state champ last year at 140, never touched the mat as Franklin voided four weight classes in the regional final after falling behind 39-0 following the first seven matches.

Collin Smith registered the lone win on a pin at 145 for the Patriots.
CC also won by four voids in its semifinal match against Salem, which received its only victories from Seth Dunn on a pin at 145 followed by a 14-10 decision from Calebat 152.
The Shamrocks will open defense of their Division 1 title as the fourth seed againstbeginning at 3:15 . Friday at Kellogg Arena. The winner advances to the state semifinals starting at 9:30 . Saturday at Kellogg against either No. 1 Brighton or Oxford.
On the other side of the draw are seeds Anchor Bay (No. 2) and(No. 3), along with Grand Haven and Monroe.
The championship final will be 4. Saturday at Kellogg.
“It may matter to others,” Hancock said of the upcoming, “but we sort of have the mindset that you’ve got to line them up. We’re going to wrestle anyone they put in front of us. To us it doesn’t matter. We’ll wrestle anyone in the state. I think we showed that when they seeded us at three and we had a good state tournament. We got a little bit a work to do and we got to stay healthy and get these guys ready to go.”
