It’s been an idea for a few years, but the answer to the question was difficult to find.
How could the Bayside Conference come together for an event to start the high school basketball season?
After months of planning and with the help of coaches, others and one local college, Colonel Richardson high’s boys head basketball coach Brad Plutschak came up with a solution: The Peake Tip-Off.
On Saturday, Dec. 5, eight teams from the Bayside Conference will play in the new gym at Chesapeake College in four games for a day filled with Shore hoops.
The day starts at 12:30 p.m. with a girls game between Mardela and Queen Anne’s, followed by a boys game at 2 p.m. between the same schools. Plutschak’s Colonels will take on the James M. Bennett Clippers at 4 p.m. and a boys basketball match-up between Pocomoke and North Caroline will round out the day, with that game beginning at 5:30 p.m.
In Chesapeake’s auxiliary gym, the JV teams of Colonel, Bennett, Pocomoke and Caroline will play as well. The Colonels and Clippers will face off at 2:30 p.m. and the Warriors and Bulldogs will play after.
All-day passes are available for a cost of $8 for adults and $5 for children.
Chesapeake College is located in Wye Mills, Maryland just off of Route 50 between Easton and Kent Island.
