Pisgah senior Thomas Tatham only made one free throw in a pressure-packed situation Friday night in Canton.

Tatham’s foul shot with no time on the clock gave the Black Bears a 51-50 home win over defending state champion Freedom in the first round of the NCHSAA 3-A boys basketball playoffs.
Tatham went to the line for two shots and made the first of them.
The Wofford baseball recruit finished with 11 points, while Josiah Ledford had 16 and Cole Anderson scored 10. Trey Morgan added eight.
Pisgah (19-6) fell behind, 33-23, at halftime but outscored the Patriots (12-12) by a 15-7 count in the final quarter.
The victory gives the No. 8 Black Bears another home game Saturday against No. 9 Statesville (13-7). That game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., following the completion of a 4 p.m. game featuring the Pisgah girls.
