Bellamy, Cherokee defeat West Deptford
Paul Bellamy led all scorers with 24 points as the Cherokee High School boys’ basketball team, No. 13 in the Courier-Post Top 15, stormed past West Deptford 71-40 in a nonleague game Monday.
Grant Gibson and Marcus Marshall added nine points apiece for the Chiefs. Marquise Owens had 15 and Preston Harcum contributed 14 in the loss.
It was the Eagles’ second straight loss after putting together a seven-game winning streak.
• Maple Shade 67, Gateway 60: George Harris and Hafeez Melvin scored 20 points apiece as the Wildcats held off the Gators. Kevin J. Williams added 13 points for the winners, who held a 28-17 halftime lead.
Dan Teschko led all scorers with 22 points in the loss.
• Overbrook 60, Vineland Prep 45: The Rams broke open a tight game with a 20-4 second quarter en route to the win. Will Miller led the winners with 21 points, while Marques DeShields added nine.
•Camden Country Tech 46, New Egypt 35: Zafir Brower scored a game-high 19 points and Ray Young chipped in with 15 to pace the winners.
•Woodstown 93, LEAP Academy 62: Demetrius Hall led all scorers with 21 points as the Wolverines prevailed.
Stafford leads Mainland
In a Cape-Atlantic League game, Megan Stafford had 18 points and Gabby Boggs added nine to lead Mainland over Bridgeton 47-33. Deja Mosley had 13 points in the loss.
