West Monroe quarterback Jon Randall Belton has been lost for the season after suffering a broken fibula that will require surgery according to his father John Belton, Sr.

“He suffered a broken fibula near the right ankle,” Belton said. “Minimum three month recovery.”

Belton was injured when he was tackled on a running play during the first quarter of a game against Lufkin (Texas) as part of the 2015 Battle on the Border at Independence Stadium in Shreveport.

West Monroe went on to win the game 44-36 to improve to 2-0 on the season.

The injury is the third consecutive season ending setback for Belton in his football career.
