The rumbling and quite often not stumbling 6-foot-2, 245-pound Kolbi Wright is the Beyond The Bleachers Athlete of the Week after rushing for two touchdowns and 147 yards against in the 34-0 win against Indian River last week.
“It felt amazing, really amazing scoring varsity football as a sophomore,” Wright said.
Whenever the Vikings (2-1) needed yards, they handed off to the fullback, whose size and speed could not be matched by the Indians’ defenders.
“He really did a nice job,” head coach Bill Collick said. “Raiquan Mosley did a nice job. We have some injuries. We sat Mike (Williams) and Brandon (Harp). Hopefully, we get those guys back next week.”
Mosley had a touchdown and 30 yards in the second half.
If starting fullback Mike Williams is still injured for Thursday’s game against Polytech, the Vikings will expect Wright and occasionally Mosley to fill the void.
But Cape should have no problem against the 0-3 Panthers.
