Big plays lift St. Mary’s Springs




St. Mary’s Springs racked up nearly 450 yards of offense and rolled past Laconia, 55-13, to clinch another WIAA playoff berth on Saturday night at Fruth Field.

Fintan Floyd finished with 106 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead the Ledgers, who had four scoring plays of 40 yards or more in building a 35-13 halftime lead.

Samuel Spranger opened the scoring for Springs with a 44-yard run in the first quarter, while Mitch Waechter’s 46-yard dash on the Ledgers’ second possession made it 14-0.

Floyd scored on a 40-yard run late in the first quarter before Tyler Wiza opened the second period by breaking loose for an 87-yard run.

Clay Schueffner and Blake Lamb also scored touchdowns for Springs.

Carter Greve caught a 13-yard pass from Cormac Madigan and Austin Flood scored on a 12-yard run for Laconia.
