Four-star outside linebacker Camilo Eifler has verbally committed to Washington, he announced on ESPNU’s telecast of The Opening Thursday night.

Eifler stands at 6-foot-1 and a half inches and 215 pounds, per his 247 sports profile, and had offers from UCLA, California and Colorado, among others. The site rates him as the 13th-best outside linebacker in the Class of 2016 and the No. 172 overall prospect.

On the telecast, he cited the combination of academics and football as to why he chose UW, also saying the program is on the rise under head coach Chris Petersen. Eifler said he considers himself very athletic and a player that could convert to safety like former Husky and Carolina Panthers first-round pick Shaq Thompson.

Eifler’s verbal brings Washington’s total to five in the class, and he’s the first linebacker to pledge to the Huskies.
